The Legal Affairs Division aims to bring about successful outcomes in defending civil liability claims and lawsuits filed against the Department involving LSPD personnel and to ensure the Department complies with all relevant legal requests for Department records, both from the public and/or other government entities, while protecting the privacy and safety interests of the Department and its employees.
It is always within the interest of the Department to settle matters prior to reaching the stage of litigation, either via arbitration, mediation or settlement. Thus, it is favourable for attorneys to contact the Legal Affairs Division directly in an attempt to form a mutually agreed outcome.
PUBLIC RECORDS & SUBPOENA RESPONSE (PRSR) SECTION
The Public Records & Subpoena Response (PRSR) Section ensures the Department complies with court-ordered subpoenas relating to confidential or restricted Department records.
All requests, notices and Subpoenas must be served electronically to the Legal Affairs Division using the following form:

Any other method of filing will be deemed invalid and therefore not processed.
