GENERAL / EXPECTATIONS

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ROLEPLAYING A POLICE OFFICER AND CIVILIAN EMPLOYEE?
As a Police Officer, you will most likely encounter regular action-paced scenarios. Civilian Employees are for players who do not wish to roleplay a law enforcement officer, but would like to be involved in a law enforcement faction in another way.

Faction members in civilian positions are not required to install or utilize TeamSpeak and/or a microphone.

WHAT ARE THE ROLEPLAY EXPECTATIONS OF EACH CIVILIAN POSITION? WHAT IS THE BEST POSITION FOR ME?
The Los Santos Police Department offers a handful of civilian positions. What you choose entirely depends on what you want to roleplay as in the faction. The following are the general 'duties' of each position:
  • Administrative Clerk — Front desk receptionist; forum-centric in most cases, responsible for processing criminal history summary requests.
  • Criminalist — Forensics; crime scene investigation.
  • Custodian — Janitor; heavy self-passive roleplay in most cases.
  • Equipment Mechanic — Car mechanic; servicing police vehicles requiring maintenance; heavy self-passive roleplay in some cases.
  • Kit Room Attendant — Quartermaster; logging and distributing equipment and shop keys to employees before and after their tour of duty; maintaining the police station's armory.
  • Deputy Police Attorney — Legal; police litigation; forum roleplay in most cases.
  • Public Relations Specialist — Writing press releases; community relations; passive roleplay with players.
WHAT ARE THE ACTIVITY EXPECTATIONS OF THE FACTION?
Faction members in a trainee and/or probationary rank shall maintain an ABAS of 0.5 per month, whereas those who are not in a trainee/probationary rank (Rank 2+) shall maintain an ABAS of 0.2 per month.

ABAS requirements may be (temporarily) waived for those in forum-centric positions such as Administrative Clerks, Deputy Police Attorneys, and Public Relations Specialists for as long as they are actively performing their duties and their ABAS is not consistently at 0.00. This is handled on a case-by-case basis by the Division Commanding Officer.

IF I GET ACCEPTED, AM I ALLOWED TO TRANSFER TO ANOTHER POSITION?
Yes, but you will have to go through the civil service selection process in the Civilian Employment Opportunities board.

If you are applying for a different civil service classification on the same character, you will be expected to provide proper justification and character development. Depending on your rank, your application will be heavily scrutinized compared to those who are applying with a different character.

IF I AM A CIVILIAN FACTION MEMBER, DO I HAVE MORE CHANCES OF GETTING ACCEPTED FOR THE POLICE ACADEMY? DO I GET EXPEDITED IN THE PROCESS?
No. The Recruitment and Employment Division, the entity that handles sworn recruitment, reviews ALL Police Officer applicants equally - this includes civilian faction members. As such, you will be given the same treatment as if you are a non-faction member.

I AM CURRENTLY IN A RELATED POSITION IN ANOTHER FACTION. DO YOU FACILITATE LATERAL TRANSFERS?
At this time, we do not accept lateral transfers. However, this is something we are actively looking into, but an ETA cannot be provided.

I WANT TO COME BACK TO THE FACTION. DO I HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE CIVIL SERVICE SELECTION PROCESS AGAIN?
If you intend to reinstate for the same career path, you may submit a reinstatement application in the Lateral Transfer and Reinstatements board. Your application will be reviewed collectively by the Supervisory Staff of your desired division, Department Supervisory and Command Staff, and finalized by the Commanding Officer of Personnel Division.

If you intend to reinstate, but for a different career path (e.g. Administrative Clerk → Equipment Mechanic), you will have to go through the civil service selection process in the Civilian Employment Opportunities board.

I AM ALREADY IN THE FACTION, BUT I AM ALSO INTERESTED IN A CIVILIAN POSITION UNDER A DIFFERENT CHARACTER. DO I NEED TO GO THROUGH THE ENTIRE SELECTION PROCESS?
Candidates who are currently in the Los Santos Police Department will have a (slightly) shortened selection process. You will only need to accomplish the in character, character background story, and post-verification sections of the application form.

Your candidate file will then be forwarded to the Section/Division Officer-in-Charge and/or Commanding Officer and the Chief of Staff for review and approval for an intra-faction alternative character account. The selection process, including the interview, may be waived at the discretion of these two entities and Personnel Division Command.

It should also be noted that activity expectations will also apply to your civilian character and may need to meet ABAS requirements for your civilian character account on top of your sworn character account. Before you consider this option, kindly provide assurance that your character has a beneficial roleplay purpose in lieu of having an alternative account for the sake of having an alternative account.

APPLICATION FORM

THE APPLICATION FORM HAS CHECKBOXES. HOW DO I TICK THEM?
Each checkbox field has a "CB" code. To tick them, you will need to replace "CB" with "CBC" (checkbox check) for the applicable box.

WHAT ARE THE "CITY JOB TITLE" AND "CLASS CODE NUMBER" IN THE APPLICATION FORM?
The City Job Title is the name of the position your character is applying for, whereas the Class Code Number is the position's numerical four-digit "job code". When you look at the Job Bulletin, the title has a four-digit number. That number is the class code.

Example: "Job Bulletin: Administrative Clerk 1358"

Some positions, like Kit Room Attendant and Police Attorney, do not have a class code number. As such, they should be left blank.

WHERE DO I FIND THE ZIP CODE OF MY ADDRESS?
As we do not have an official ZIP code system, this information can be completely made up as long as it is a valid United States ZIP Code. We will not fault you for providing something that does not actually exist in the GTA lore.

As a suggestion, you may refer to the real-life equivalent (LA) of your residence area [REF]. If that sounds complicated, you may refer to one of the following maps instead: MAP 1 | MAP 2

WHERE DO I GET THE SUPPLEMENTARY QUESTIONS?
The supplementary questions can be found in the position's job bulletin. Open the spoiler, copy the code, and paste it into Question 19 of the application form.

AM I ALLOWED TO UTILIZE ASSISTIVE WRITING TOOLS, SUCH AS CHATGPT, FOR MY BACKGROUND STORY?
The entirety of your application must be written solely by yourself. The usage of assistive writing tools, generators, and/or paraphrasing tools, including but not limited to, ChatGPT, Bing Chat, Google Bard, and QuillBot, among other Artificial Intelligence tools, is strictly prohibited.

In the event that you are caught violating this policy, you will be disqualified from the selection process and your case will be referred to faction leadership where violators are liable for a faction-wide ban. Violators will not only be barred from the LSPD faction (applies to sworn and civilian positions), but may also apply amongst ALL legal factions at the discretion of Legal Faction Management.
