DUTIES

An Equipment Mechanic does skilled mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of automotive transportation equipment and inspects such equipment to determine needed repairs. Moreover, an Equipment Mechanic removes, fabricates, installs, remodels, or repairs bodies, frames, and body accessories of automotive equipment; occasionally does minor paint repairs, installs automotive glass, and repairs fiberglass body parts.

An Equipment Mechanic performs preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and testing on light, medium, and heavy duty gasoline, diesel, electric, and hybrid electric Police Department vehicles and completes related inspection forms and reports; performs journey-level mechanic work on all vehicle systems and components on cars, vans, and many other light, medium, and heavy duty specialty vehicles and equipment, and perform all aspects of automotive electrical work, including testing and replacing batteries, diagnosing and repairing charging, starting, and lighting systems.

An Equipment Mechanic diagnoses, repairs, and replaces engines, transmissions, differentials, suspensions, radiators, power steering, exhaust systems, emissions systems, air conditioning systems, passenger restraint systems, and car/truck bodies; performs brake inspections and replaces all hydraulic brake components, including brake rotors, brake drums, brake pads, brake shoes, brake master cylinders, brake wheel cylinders, and hydraulic brake lines; investigates, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair simple to complex vehicle performance and drive-ability defects associated with a variety of gasoline and diesel-fueled light, medium, and heavy duty vehicles.

This position plays a vital role in supporting the smooth operation of the Department. They must be highly organized, possess strong technical skills, and be able to work under pressure. Additionally, they must have excellent attention to detail and be able to prioritize tasks efficiently.

REQUIREMENT(S)/MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S)

  1. Applicants must have completed a recognized apprenticeship as an automotive mechanic; or
  2. Completion of the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Master Technician Certification for Automobile Repair; or
  3. Four years of full-time paid experience in automotive mechanic work; or
  4. Satisfactory completion of a two-year program in automotive or truck mechanics from an accredited community college, trade, or technical school and two years of full-time paid experience in automotive mechanic work;
  5. If none of the above, please refer to Process Note #6;
  6. (( It should be noted that the listed requirements and minimum qualifications are NOT strictly enforced. If your character does not meet the IC requirements, you are still welcome to submit an application. ))

PROCESS NOTES
  1. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age at the time of application;
  2. Candidates must have proof of identity and legal right to work in the U.S. prior to the appointment;
  3. Candidates must possess a valid San Andreas driver's license which must be maintained through the course of employment. Candidates may not be eligible for appointment if their record within the last 36 months (( 30 days )) reflects three or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents, or a conviction of a major moving violation (such as DUI);
  4. Applicants filing under Requirement #1 or #2 must submit an Apprenticeship Certificate as an automotive mechanic or a valid Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Master Technician Certification for Automobile Repair Certificate at the time of filing;
  5. Applicants qualifying under Requirement #4 must list their school name and type of program completed in the Education Section of the application;
  6. Applicants who lack four years or less of the required experience may file for this examination. However, they cannot be appointed until they pass specialized automotive training and the probationary phase;
  7. Equipment Mechanics may be required to furnish their own tools.

  1. Prospective members must have accumulated at least ten (10) hours of playtime on their GTA World account;
  2. Prospective members must be in good standing with the community. They may be disqualified from the selection process if they have any administrative punishments (outside AFK kicks) issued within the last 60 days;
  3. Prospective members must have excellent proficiency in the English language;
  4. Prospective members must be able to adapt to the faction's roleplay expectations and have solid experience in accurately portraying and developing realistic characters. Prospective members will be portraying a government employee assigned to a Police Department. As such, their assets must be within a realistic range from our source material. Furthermore, they must understand the volatility of character development as they progress within the Department.

Applications are subject to review and only the most qualified candidates will be invited to an interview.

Candidates who receive a job offer will undergo a specialized training and probationary program in the civil service classification of Craft Trainee (Equipment Mechanic) or Mechanical Helper. Upon completion, candidates will be appointed to Equipment Mechanic vacancies with a Step 5 salary. The current salary range is subject to change.

If you receive a conditional job offer, your appointment is subject to a MEDICAL EXAMINATION. Candidates must be determined to be medically qualified to perform the essential duties of an Equipment Mechanic. Candidates must undergo a comprehensive medical examination given by a City physician. Part of the medical examination may include a PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION. The psychological evaluation will evaluate psychological factors related to successful job performance to determine if you are suited for the difficult and stressful occupation of an Equipment Mechanic.

If you receive and accept an offer of employment to a regular position with the City of Los Santos, your employee benefit coverage (including health and dental coverage as well as life insurance) will commence approximately six weeks after your original regular appointment. All City employees are required to be Disaster Service Workers.
