DUTIES

A Criminalist searches for, collects, and preserves physical evidence in the investigation of crime and suspected criminals; examines evidence by means of physical and chemical analyses; prepares reports of findings; and gives expert testimony in court. At the highest pay grade, performs analyses of physical and chemical evidence of a nonroutine nature requiring advanced technology; and may serve as a head worker by providing training and supervision to criminalists working in a specialized field.

A Criminalist is subject to call at any hour and may work under unpleasant and adverse conditions, including high places, dangerous locations, and in proximity to dead bodies and biological and chemical hazards, in order to investigate crime scenes.

This position plays a vital role in supporting the smooth operation of the Department. They must be highly organized, possess strong scientific and investigative skills, and be able to work under pressure. Additionally, they must have excellent attention to detail and be able to prioritize tasks efficiently.

REQUIREMENT(S)/MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S)

  1. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in a physical or natural science and successful completion of 8 semesters or 12 quarter units in general chemistry;
  2. (( It should be noted that the listed requirements and minimum qualifications are NOT strictly enforced. If your character does not meet the IC requirements, you are still welcome to submit an application. ))

PROCESS NOTES
  1. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age at the time of application;
  2. Candidates must have proof of identity and legal right to work in the U.S. prior to the appointment;
  3. Candidates must possess a valid San Andreas driver's license which must be maintained through the course of employment. Candidates may not be eligible for appointment if their record within the last 36 months (( 30 days )) reflects three or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents, or a conviction of a major moving violation (such as DUI);
  4. After the application and background investigation stage, all candidates must complete a Criminalist Training and Experience Questionnaire and a Crime Scene Investigator examination. Candidates who fail to complete or receive a failing mark in the Training and Experience Questionnaire and/or Crime Scene Investigator examination will not be considered further, and their application will not be processed;
  5. Applicants must list their:
    • (a) School name, type of degree earned, and major in the Education Section of the application; and
      (b) Completed courses in chemistry as stated in the requirement.

(( OUT OF CHARACTER REQUIREMENTS AND EXPECTATIONS ))

  1. Prospective members must have accumulated at least twenty-five (25) hours of playtime on their GTA World account;
  2. Prospective members must be in good standing with the community. They may be disqualified from the selection process if they have any administrative punishments (outside AFK kicks) issued within the last 60 days;
  3. Prospective members must have excellent proficiency in the English language;
  4. Prospective members must be able to adapt to the faction's roleplay expectations and have solid experience in accurately portraying and developing realistic characters. Prospective members will be portraying a government employee assigned to a Police Department. As such, their assets must be within a realistic range from our source material. Furthermore, they must understand the volatility of character development as they progress within the Department;
  5. Prospective members must not be a part of any gang, organized crime group, or official illegal faction in any character. Applicants must list their current factions within Q25 of the application form.

In the Training and Experience Questionnaire, the following competencies may be evaluated: Follow Written Directions, Written Communication, and Job Knowledge, including knowledge of various types of physical evidence and laboratory methods used to conduct analyses, theory of operation of test instruments commonly used in crime laboratories, chemistry, biology, physics, microscopy, and other necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Applications are subject to review and only the most qualified candidates will be invited to an interview and further examinations.

Candidates from the eligible list are normally appointed to vacancies in the lower pay grade positions. Annual salary is at the start of the pay range. The current salary range is subject to change.

If you receive a conditional job offer, your appointment is subject to a MEDICAL EXAMINATION. Candidates must be determined to be medically qualified to perform the essential duties of a Criminalist. Candidates must undergo a comprehensive medical examination given by a City physician. Part of the medical examination may include a PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION. The psychological evaluation will evaluate psychological factors related to successful job performance to determine if you are suited for the difficult and stressful occupation of a Criminalist.

If you receive and accept an offer of employment to a regular position with the City of Los Santos, your employee benefit coverage (including health and dental coverage as well as life insurance) will commence approximately six weeks after your original regular appointment. All City employees are required to be Disaster Service Workers.
